Next Steps Update

Next Steps

April 26, 2021

The Next Steps Committee would like to thank everyone who participated in the Congregational Listening Sessions. Insights gleaned from those sessions were very helpful in painting a picture of who North Cincy is, including:

  • what is foundational and should never change
  • what has brought us and bound us to this community of believers
  • North Cincy’s key strengths and opportunities areas

We have summarized the listening session input, and shared highlights at the Mid-Year Vision Update on April 25. The full presentation is linked here, and we hope you’ll take a look and be encouraged by what you see.

Having submitted the Listening Session Report and shared it with the congregation, the Next Steps Committee has completed its formal work. Our team will pass the baton to the Session to form a Pastoral Search Committee, targeted by the end of August. Concurrently, a few members of the Next Steps Committee will carry the listening session insights forward into drafts of the pastoral search documents (often referred to in PCA lingo as “Church and Pastor Profiles”). The goal is to have the search documents ready to hand-off to the Pastoral Search Committee as soon as it is constituted and ready to formally begin the pastoral search.

Once again, thank you for your input and prayer support over the past several months.

As promised, we're inviting you to participate in a listening event scheduled during the first week of March. We are hosting these 1-hour sessions to create space to reflect on our past and anticipate the future for our church. You will find the schedule of sessions and a form to sign up for a time that works for you here: Listening Event
We look forward to meeting with you and hearing your insights!

February 11, 2021

Greetings from the Next Steps Committee. After having met weekly during the month of January, we wanted to provide more clarity on what our two primary responsibilities will be as it relates to the search for our next Senior Pastor.

These responsibilities rely heavily on your continued prayers, your active participation, and our collective reliance on God to guide our steps. Our intent and hope was that our Prayer Week last week was a great first step of earnestly seeking God’s face, and committing to listening to Him, as we embark on these next steps in our pastoral search.

In the coming months, the Next Steps Committee will:

1. Listen to the congregation, and provide the Session with your combined input to inform the Pastoral Search.

We want to hear your personal reflections about what NCCC means to you—your most precious memories from the past, your perspective on what you most appreciate about NCCC today, and your prayers for what you want to see God do among us in the future. To that end, we will be sending out a link to sign up for a day and time to connect virtually with members of the Next Steps Committee, either 1:1 or in small groups. Look for more details on that soon. Your feedback from these informal conversations will be compiled anonymously and incorporated into a Church Profile and Candidate Profile to aid in our search for a new Senior Pastor. Having established alignment on the essentials, these Profiles will go a long way in helping the Search Committee further narrow their search to candidates whose gifts, personalities, and passions are a good fit with us as a body.

2. Set expectations by providing ongoing updates on the progress of our Pastoral Search.

We’re committed to sharing milestones and timings as they become available over the course of our Pastoral Search—which can typically take 12–18 months. During this time, there may be weeks with nothing new to report—or a lot to report.

FEBRUARY 11 UPDATE: During the month of January, Pastor Michael Craddock’s resignation was finalized at the Presbytery level. Now that that has concluded, the Session will begin some preliminary work before chartering our Search Committee. Once the Committee is formed, they will formally launch a Pastoral Search.

Thanks for your interest and participation in this community effort.

For God’s glory,

Mark, Wade, Cheryl, Wendy, Gordon, Jim, Joy, and Scott
