A Purpose for Life

May 19, 2013 Speaker: Walter Wood, Jr. Series: Colossians: Purpose, Freedom and Assurance

Topic: Sermons Scripture: Colossians 1:15–1:29

After a rousing discussion on the gospel and its good effects in Colossians 1: 1-14, Paul launches into the heart of that gospel-the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ.  I have titled this "A Purpose for Life," because this passage clearly portrays Paul's purpose for his life: to exalt Christ and to help all believers grow to maturity, (becoming more like Christ and further exalting Him).  Applications are around how we can exalt Christ in our everyday circumstances and how we can be involved in the priority of making mature disciples in the church.
