A Life of Love

January 6, 2013 Speaker: Walter Wood, Jr. Series: God's New Community

Topic: Sermons Scripture: Ephesians 5:1–5:2

Ephesians 5: 1-2 opens simply and yet dauntingly: "be imitators of God as beloved children and walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God."  We are to imitate our heavenly Father by walking in love and he has given us a real time example of a life of love in the person of Christ.  Christ shows us how to love, and clearly defines love as self-giving.  The rest of Ephesians 5 works out some specific examples of how love is to be lived out.  But in these two verses the broad, general charge is given to be imitators of our heavenly Father, by living a life characterized by self-sacrificing love.
